What are prefabricated constructions?

In Greece, the construction of prefabricared buildings involves the use of reinforced concrete  only at the foundation
. The bearing shell of  the building is constructed of  either wood or iron or reinforced concrete panels that are configured in a factory and then assembled at the building site. Our company can construct a building of wooden or iron frame.

Is it  true that  the prefabricated buildings are cheaper and better than  the conventional ones ?

It is true that  building  prefabricated houses  is slightly cheaper than conventional  houses in Greece. This is mainly due to the fact that  the insurance for the  workers is less for the erection of a prefabricated building. The truth is that the final cost difference does not reach more than 10% of a conventional construction. Some  will say that prefabricated buildings are cheaper to be  manufactured . But if you add the price of the building permit, excavation, the foundation of reinforced concrete, insurance, VAT and many others factors that   are not included in the bid price of other companies, you can understand what the final price of integrated manufacture will be. Of course you should keep in mind that if you pay less to build your building , then it will have less commercial value.
    As for the
second part of the question, prefabricated buildings are better in terms of thermal and acoustic insulation. It is difficult for conventional structures to compete in this area. They are  more environmentally-friendly  especially in the case of wooden buildings and they are built more quickly. They are  ideal for holiday homes. On the other hand,  there are restrictions on construction. In prefabricated houses we can not predict  a third floor and  the balconies on  the floors , other than the ground floor, cannot be   larger than one meter in width without raising the cost of construction . As a result ,it  becomes  unprofitable.

Is it true that prefabricated buildings have better behavior during an  earthquake?

The behavior of a building in an earthquake depends on several factors. The key is the size of the earthquake, its location, the soil,  the engineer's  study on the static strength  and the application of the design to the constuction. Therefore , any construction can have good behavior in an  earthquake if the study of the engineer and its application has been done correctly.

How is  a prefabricated construction built?

The first stage is exactly the same as in a conventional construction. First, the  excavation and then the construction of the foundations with reinforced concrete.  Reinforced concrete moulds  the basement if there is one in  the building permit. On the slab of reinforced concrete we leave iron cases anchored in the reinforceced concrete waiting for the placement of wooden or iron columns. Then,  we constuct the bearing shell of the building including the roof and the  floor if it is a two-storey building. The connections of columns and beams are made with steel plates and screws for woodwork or welding in case of iron frame. All sections, plates, bolts and welds follow the structural design. The walls are placed with insulation. The next steps are  like the ones  in a conventional building. If you wish to have  a more environmentally- friendly  building ,  plaster-boards  can be used  both for the  internal partitions and the  interior walls as well as   cement  boards for the exterior.

How can we sign  a contract with your company to construct our building ?

How long  will  it take for  the constuction of a prefabricated building to be completed ?

Prefabricated buildings are constructed more quickly than conventional ones. The size plays an  important role for the construction time of a building . For example, a ground floor cottage of about  80 m2 without a basement can be constructed in about two and a half months from the moment  excavation begins. The timetable  may change depending on the size and  the requirements. Be  sure , though,  that you will  receive your house at the time  written in our contract.
